Science Meetings during and post IPY
Here are 12 posters prepared for the IPY launch event on March 1st, 2007. These accompany Dave Carlson's IPY Opening Ceremony Presentation. Arctic Energy Summit - Final Call for papers
Thank-you to everyone who was involved with launch events, who launched virtual balloons, who launched real balloons (see the Swedish launch web-cast!), those behind the scenes, and those on stage. IPY Celebrations around the world on March 1st, and throughout this week, have been a huge success. Smithsonian at the Poles: Contributions to International Polar Year Science
January 2007 The Smithsonian Institution announces a polar science symposium in early May 2007, as one of the inaugural U.S. contributions to celebrate the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008. Smithsonian at the Poles: Contributions to International Polar Year Science is being convened by Smithsonian Under Secretary for Science David L. Evans. The symposium will present research findings by Smithsonian scholars and their collaborators from Artic and Antarctic research, with particular attention to changes in polar systems past, present and future, and their global impact. Arctic Energy Summit - Call for Papers
The Arctic Energy Summit is issuing a Call for Papers for its Technology Conference to be held in Anchorage, Alaska October 15-18, 2007. The Summit, an approved International Polar Year Program, is a US-led initative of the eight-nation Arctic Council amd is comprised of three components: * The technology conference and industry exposition which will bring together 600-1,000 researchers, academics, government leaders, students, industry, and residents of the Arctic; * The creation and deployment of an international Arctic energy action team whose recommendations will be reported at the 2008 Arctic Council Ministerial meeting in Norway; * An education and outreach component which will include a bilingual (Russian and English) summit website and, ...
